Now that the PS Vita is out in Japan, Sony has its eyes set on dominating the smartphone market. The market for Mobile phones hit about 320 billion yen in 2010 which is double of what it was earlier.

But with only 24 games available at launch, the Vita has a long way to go to compete with the hundreds of thousands of games available on the iPhone and other mobile devices.

Still, the Vita's display resolution is four times higher than that of the PSP and its network functions are also slightly superior.

What it is going to boil down to is the quality of the upcoming Vita games. Enterbrain President Hirokazu Hamamura said the Vita’s success will "depend on how many new, exciting and easy-to-play games will be provided."
