DriveClub To Have Damage Effects And Day-Night Cycle

Evolution Studios has announced that the upcoming PS4 exclusive racer, DriveClub, will include realistic damage modeling and a day-night cycle. When asked about weather systems, the team noted that even though there is currently no weather in the game, they are not ruling it out.

“We’re not making Burnout, but the cars do damage, they deform and all that kind of stuff, so you are effectively scuffing up million pound supercars,” the team said.

“If there is a call for weather effects, nothing is currently off the cards at this point,” Evolution said.

“The game that you play day one on PlayStation 4 is not going to be the same game you play a year down the line because it will have evolved a lot. We’re keeping the development architecture of the tracks etc very much open. We’re not closing off anything just yet.

“Time of day is something that will be implemented at launch,” they added.

A few other notes:
  • The studio has mentioned dedicated servers for the game
  • Steering wheel support
  • Club memberships of two to 12

The "Grid like" racer is currently scheduled to be released this holiday season exclusively for the PS4.
