Killer Instinct's free character has been switched to Thunder to keep things fresh for free-to-play gamers. Previously, Jago and Sabrewulf were made available for free.

For those wanting to unlock the other characters have the option of purchasing the combo pack for $19.99 which includes the first eight characters, or the Ultra Edition for $39.99 which inlcudes the same eight characters from the Combo Breaker, plus accessory packs, costumes and the original Killer Instinct arcade game.
